ROZA Promotions, Inc. Literacy Program

Adult Learning Center
320 Vanderbilt Ave.
Staten Island, NY 10304

Many older immigrants are functionally illiterate upon arrival in the United States. They need to be taught reading, writing and the numbers skills that are primarily essential, minimum requirements for dialing telephone numbers, locating street / house addresses, filling out job application forms, so that they will be successful in their otherwise unfamiliar, new socio-economic environment.

Furthermore, many immigrants need constant help with referring them to places / other service providers that are sensitive to their culture and able to meet their needs.

ROZA’s goal is to provide adults and high school drop out with educational services and support – classes in basic reading, writing, arithmetic and computer learning.

We also teach and rehearse questions on US Citizenship / Naturalization, American civic education and help to fill up immigration forms.

Tutoring is provided to  older high school students that are attending GED classes. We help to develop their reading and writing skills, along with general GED works.

Classes are held from Monday to Friday, 6:PM to 9:PM with three experienced and caringAdult instructors:

Mr. David Whea: Retired High School Teacher
Mr. Jonathan Yancy: Lawyer and Teacher in Liberia
Mr. Rufus Arkoi: Former NYC Board of ED Teacher

The Adult Literacy Program is FREE and OPEN to EVERYONE.
